Working with legislative colleagues and county departments, Joseph Minuta leveraged his architecture background to oversee a two-year planning process for a state-of-the-art center near the Emergency Service Center.
The new facility features a dedicated family bereavement area, secure receiving zones, and professional cold storage to ensure dignity for the deceased and their loved ones. Although the final cost tripled due to design complexities, specialized forensic equipment, and pandemic-era escalation, we used $70 million in federal COVID-19 relief funds to avoid burdening taxpayers.
Additionally, Joseph Minuta ensured the building uses an environmentally friendly ground well thermo-exchange system for heating and cooling, eliminating fossil fuel bills for life. The center had its ribbon-cutting on December 16, 2024.
